The Barcelona Design Centre (BCD) is located on Avinguda Diagonal, Barcelona’s longest and best known thoroughfare. The promotional brochure is a large fold-out designed to suggest the street where the BCD is located. This format also avoids the use of glue or staples in the binding, optimises resources for 4/1 printing, and lends the catalogue character and substance.

Barcelona Club of Design Managers

The BCDM, a platform created by the Barcelona Design Centre, is emerging as the meeting point for design managers working in Barcelona and its environs. The idea was to create an abstract piece with a strong visual impact in order to avoid formulaic approaches. We also wanted to generate a sense of movement and speed, which is achieved by the coloured lines. The material used – heavyweight one-side coated card stock – suggests the solidity of the platform.

National Design Prizes

The exhibition was intended to showcase the culture of design and contrast it with the ‘design’ culture propagated by the media. Communication is based on coloured cubes (like the architecture of the exhibition) printed over press cuttings featuring ‘design’ news. The space is divided into three areas (designers, users and companies), each identified by a particular colour range. The colours are the same ones used to organise information in the exhibition catalogue.
